In honor of Bastille Day today, I’d thought I’d do a French beauty roundup! There are so many incredible French beauty products, it can be hard to narrow things down to a reasonable list. In fact, when I go to France, I make sure to have an extra suitcase just for all my French pharmacie finds. It’s a bit out of control and drives anyone I’m traveling with crazy. That said, I’m extremely unlikely to change this behavior as few things bring me as much joy as unreasonable amounts of French beauty products.
Instead of overwhelming all of you with my borderline beauty hoarder behavior, I’ve narrowed my selections down to a list of seven items that are most definitely on my “can’t live without” list. Many are simple, but simplicity is one of the central tenets of French beauty. These are unfussy greats—and you really do need them all.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré
This moisturizer is in the kit of every makeup artist I know. A true classic. It’s also the only beauty product Jane Birkin used, according to her daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg—if that’s not the ultimate cool girl seal of approval, I don’t know what is. It’s rich, gentle, great on all skin types, has the most delicate fresh floral scent that you will absolutely become addicted to, works for body, isn’t crazy expensive, and most importantly—a perfect makeup base. If this cream isn’t in your life, you must get it immediately.
Talika Eye Therapy Patch & Case
I’ve tried a lot of eye masks, and this one is a forever favorite. It’s so refreshing, depuffing, and reusable. Yes, REUSABLE. You can use each dry gel (sticky but not too sticky) up to three times! No other eye mask can do that. To reuse, simply clean off with a little water and store in the provided, super chic mirrored case. Once you swap to these more sustainable eye masks, you’ll be a lifer.
This super chic brush set is supremely glamorous and basically all you need. The set includes a leather brush case for perfect storage (as well as any fabulous getaway you can imagine) and three absolutely essential brushes.
Chantecaille Real Glow Cosmos Collection Highlighter
New for summer, this gel powder highlighter from Chantecaille is definitely a must have. Luminous and smooth, you’ll see the cosmos inspiration immediately. I wear it on my lids, cheekbones, cupids bow, down my nose, and even mixed with my blush. It stays all day and leaves the most gorgeous glow you’ve ever seen.
I’ve loved and worn this blush from Dior for years. The color transforms while interacting with your personal PH for a unique and customized blush. This summer, they have expanded the color range, which I’m really excited about. Now, there’s a tone for everyone and plenty of room for experimentation for me!
Orlane B21 Extraordinaire Serum
This iconic anti-aging serum from Orlane is my go-to, especially in the summer. I use it alone, plus sunscreen and the corresponding eye cream. It contains the patented Youth Reset Complex made of 21 Pale Iris amino acids to brighten, firm, and hydrate skin.
I love this mist. It’s bottled directly at Avene’s source in France and is clinically proven to soothe and calm even the most sensitive skin. Use it as a first step before skincare, as a final step after makeup, to wet an eyeliner brush to transform any eyeshadow into eyeliner, and as a skin refresh whenever needed.
